Some read it twice, and some read it once then wrote down what they held. A week on, the rereaders kept 42%. The ones who tested themselves kept 56%. A second study, with 180 fresh students, went further. A blank page is already in your hands. // OpenWindow Gül Dölen’s team at Johns Hopkins timed a learning window in mice. Five psychedelics prised it open, each for a stretch of its own. Ketamine held it two days. Psilocybin and MDMA ran to two weeks, LSD to three, ibogaine to four. So the open window tracked the drug… and outlasted the trip by weeks. Adult male mice, though, and the window was one for social reward. Each one sat at least nine months past an ischaemic stroke, and most were about three years out. Half had current fed in during arm practice. The rest got none, and everyone did the practice. Arm scores rose 5.0 points against 2.4 over six weeks of clinic work. Almost half the wired group cleared a six point gain by day 90\. About a quarter managed it on sham. The FDA cleared the device in August 2021\. Practice does the teaching, and the nerve turns up the volume. There was no blade and no wire, across 15 sittings in three weeks. The people in it carried mood, anxiety or trauma diagnoses. Scans showed the target quieten against sham. Distress scores then fell, at an effect size of 0.77. Only 21 people finished that stretch, with no control group beside them. Side effects ran to headache, tingling and thin focus.
