The Collagen Gain Fades Outside Industry Trials
Twenty three trials pooled together looked good for skin. Sorted by who paid for them, the gain vanished in the trials the trade had not funded.
A scoop in the coffee. Collagen powder now sells by the tonne. The pitch runs simple. Eat collagen, rebuild skin. Your gut has other plans… It cuts the powder into loose amino acids first.
Last year two researchers pooled 23 trials on skin. That covered 1,474 people, on collagen or on a dummy. Stacked together the numbers looked good. Hydration up, stretch up, lines down. Then they sorted the trials by who paid…
So what does hold skin, in trials nobody sells? In Australia 903 adults were split into two habits. One group creamed daily, the other used it as they liked. Four and a half years on, the daily group aged 24% less by the skin scores. In that group the graders found no measurable ageing at all.
Most collagen copy quotes a trial the seller funded. I spend more than $20,000 a year on private research… the sort hedge funds pay for. Walled off from the public. Then I check who paid for it, every time. My own tub sat in the cupboard for a year. The sunscreen gets used daily, and that is one man’s call.
