Up out of the chair.
A man in his eighties rises again, then again.
Soft shorts hold thin cables along his hips.
They tug as he stands… and he clears two more stands a minute.
Strength you pull on like clothing.

The Three Second Lower
Ken Nosaka’s team gave 39 students one arm curl a day.
Three seconds long, at full effort, and lowering only.
Four weeks later that group tested about 11% stronger. All the work added up to 60 seconds.

Hold a dumbbell you can just about lift. |
| 02 |
Raise it with both hands, or with a push from your free hand. |
| 03 |
Lower it with one arm, slowly, across three seconds. |
| 04 |
That is the day done, one rep per arm. |

Five days a week, and let the weekend go. |
Six lowers a day beat 30 of them in one weekly bout. Little and often is the trick.

// The Pivot
Muscle answers to the lowering
Three labs chase the same prize with a drug, a pill and a suit. The slow lower is yours for free.

// MuscleShield
Regeneron ran a trial called COURAGE on 599 adults. Each of them took semaglutide for 26 weeks.
On that drug alone, a third of the weight they lost was lean mass.
Then the team added two antibodies that block the brakes on muscle growth.
In that arm, 93% of the weight lost was fat. Total loss came to 13.4% of body weight. This is phase 2 work, so it sits years from a pharmacy shelf.

A Heidelberg team built the shorts from the top of this page.
Ten adults wore them, mean age 78. Walking took 13.6% less energy with the suit on.
Chair stands rose by about two a minute, and each one ran 9% quicker.
Ten people is a thin sample, and the gains were measured in a lab. Still, the paper ran in Nature Communications in July.

Most muscle headlines come from a brand, not a trial.
I spend more than $20,000 a year on private research… the sort hedge funds pay for. Walled off from the public.
Then I read the paper behind each claim.
My own slow lowers run on a 20 kg dumbbell, two weeks in. One arm knows about it, and that is one man’s report.
Drugs and suits need trials and money. Your lower needs a dumbbell.
